Attorney Rasmussen grew up in the Las Vegas public school system and participated in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed riding horses at the old Day Dream Ranch at Warm Springs and Eastern, and spent many hours climbing the local mountains. His father was a professor at UNLV, and his mother was a registered nurse at Sunrise. He is deeply invested in his community. In addition, he speaks fluent Russian.
Attorney Chris Rasmussen has been practicing criminal defense and personal injury law in Las Vegas, Nevada for many years. He earned his JD at Gonzaga University, and his studies allowed him the opportunity to study at three different universities in Europe as well.
While in Europe, he was fortunate enough to study in Vienna with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. These studies provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the international criminal justice system from some of the founders of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
While studying criminal justice, Attorney Rasmussen participated in a 260-hour internship with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Southwest Area Command, giving him additional insight into criminal law and criminal defense.
Attorney Chris Rasmussen opened his first law office in 2001. During that time, he was appointed to the CJA panel and tried four of the most complex and lengthy criminal cases in the District: United States v. Acosta (Hells Angels), United States v. Kahre (Four Month Tax Evasion Trial), United States v. Camez (Carder.su Computer Hacking), United States v. Edwards (Largest Penny Stock Fraud in US History) and United States v. Sellers (Complex Rico Prison Gang Trial). He honed his skills at defending individuals who have been charged with serious crimes with these trials.
